Train Alerts is an independent utility using live information supplied by Transport for NSW.
It lightly filters departures by line or train headsign. Because headsigns usually name a terminus, intermediate destinations may fall back to showing every departure from your origin.
One before each departure inside your window. That’s the point of setting a window at all, because when you set it you don’t know yet which train you’ll make. Once you’re moving, tap “I’m on board” in the alert and that’s the last one until the next day you travel. A tighter window means fewer alerts, so start yours at the earliest you’d really leave!
Your send time follows the latest estimated departure. If a train shifts later inside your travel window, the alert shifts with it.
Yes. Push alerts are delivered by your phone’s own notification system, so they arrive with the screen off and the browser closed. Set the alert once and forget it. There’s nothing to keep open.
Apple needs a one-time step. In Safari tap the three dots at the bottom right, choose Share, then Add to Home Screen. Open Train Alerts from your Home Screen and tap “Enable push” in there. From then on alerts behave like any other notification. The full walkthrough with screenshots covers Android too.
The device where you tapped “Enable push”, so set it up on the phone you carry. Want another screen covered too? Create a second alert there, or choose email, which reaches you everywhere.
Every alert carries an “I’m on board” action. Tap it and the rest of that day’s window goes quiet; alerts return on your next travel day. To stop an alert for good, use the link on your alert’s details page.
